Jayden, an orphan living on the Reservation, is fascinated with his native Hopi religion and culture. His thirst for spiritual knowledge leads him into a Baptist school, then to a Roman Catholic Seminary. Before departing, Jayden barely survives a demonic attack and is warned never to return to Hopi land, lest his soul be snatched to Hell. He quits the Seminary to teach Pueblo-Anasazi anthropology in Flagstaff. En route, he meets Conor, a quirky, mysterious young man whom he instinctively mistrusts, but seemingly cannot escape.

As Jayden prepares to teach his first class on Hopi creation, and apocalyptic “end of days” prophecy, strange, evil events occur on Hopi land and in the Grand Canyon -- the Battle of Armageddon is coming. Jayden and Conor descend sacred “Whispering Sipapu” into the Hopi underworld in search of ciphers to save mankind. They emerge a century into the past joining an ill-fated expedition to explore the Grand Canyon. Amidst privation and supernatural attacks, they discover a necropolis of malevolent, mummified, ancient warrior Giants resurrecting themselves from their high Colorado River cliff tomb to wreak world havoc. Jayden and Conor must overcome their own spiritual battles to save mankind.
